"Peggy" - Western Sydney, NSW

Peg is a 3yr old girl (DOB 11/07/2020) which is looking for a new home.
Temperament: Peg is a great dog. She’s ok with children over 10yrs old. Pretty calm generally. She doesn't have any known fears of storms/cars etc. She does 'nip/mouth' for attention which is why she is unsuitable for a home with young kids. She will need ongoing training to break her out of this habit.
Other animals/dogs: She enjoys some dogs. She doesn't live with another dog though so prefer for her to go to a home with no other animals. Would consider a home with an experienced owner that will separate her from any existing dogs (of similar size) for a week or so until she settles in, has built some trust with her new 'humans' and both dogs are used to having the other there. Will not consider a home where this initial separation can't be managed for her and any other dogs safety.
Training: She has been trained on lead and walks well with a strong leader.
Health: Desexed, up to date with vaccinations, wormed, heartworm treatment. She's not a large girl weighing approx 40kgs. No known health issues.
Microchip Number: 991003000797737
Price: Donation to rescue.
If you are interested in applying for Peggy, please CLICK HERE
Note: she is a private rehome, so any applications will be sent to her owner.

"Cupid" - Coomera, QLD

Cupid is a 3yr old girl in urgent need of a home (either temporary or permanent). DOB 21/05/2020.
Temperament: Cuddly girl who loves to sleep in bed with humans, she cries and has anxiety when left alone for long periods of time and will scratch at fence/door. She loves her food and will sit and stare with puppy eyes to get more food. Is afraid of storms and water.
Existing pets: From her owner: My parents have a dog (a Dogue x Staffy) who is 8 (almost 9) years old. She loves playing with him, but with his age, he has health issues and after short plays, he will get over it whereas Cupid will keep playing and annoy him. When told no more play/enough, she stops and walks away. She stayed with my neighbours and wanted to play with their dog (Staffy) the entire time but he humps any and all dogs and she did not like this so they were separated.
She is not too fond of small dogs (around same size of a Maltese) as she has never really been around them and she's never been around cats while I have had her. She does not like possums (seen at night time), so I am not sure how she would go with a cat/would depend on their temperament.
Children: Cupid has been around kids (4, 5 & 9) with sensory issues, ADHD and autism. She is great with them. She knows to give them space when needed. If both girls were heightened, and running around chasing each other laughing and squealing, Cupid gallops around like a horse in excitement and there have been times where she has knocked them but instantly noticed and would lay down beside them to make sure they were okay. She has also been around a 1yr old, and she would give her kisses and smell her but then just sit and wait for a pat.
Training: Sits, lays down, heavy on lead but working on it.
Health: Desexed, vaccinated, wormed. Smaller girl being 30-35kgs. No known health issues.
Reason for rehoming: Owner had an urgent change of circumstances.
Price: Donation to rescue.
Microchip Number: 953010004538209

"Sweetie" - Campbelltown, NSW

We don't know her name, so we will refer to her as "Sweetie" :-) because that's exactly what she sounds like, a sweetie. She is 5 yrs old (DOB 18 May 2018).
PLEASE NOTE: We are looking for a foster with a view to adopt. Given her current temperament, we think it's in her best interest not to be 'shuffled' from home to home, so it's imperative you are honest with us about your environment and think seriously if you are willing to commit to at least several weeks with her in your home to give her the time she needs to decompress and trust you.
NEEDS:
- Calm & quiet environment. So any kids should be aged 10+yrs and no 'over the top' exciteable existing dog. She is shy/timid and flinches at loud noises. She lacks confidence and will need time in a calm, quiet environment to gain confidence and trust in her new home.
- She is showing a sensitive temperament in the pound environment. Has low energy needs. Shy/timid but agreeable and affectionate.
- She loves treats and takes them gently.
- She doesn't like toys, she's scared of them. She may come to like them when she's more confident.
- She doesn't resource guard and doesn't jump.
- Dogs: She displays little or no reaction when meeting other dogs. HOWEVER - we don't recommend she taken into a pack' environment. 1 calm existing dog may be OK. If you do have a calm friendly existing dog, introductions/interactions would need to be slow due to her lack of confidence. We would recommend a period of separation when you first bring her home. She needs to gain trust in her new 'people' so that she won't be worried she will be harmed. I wouldn't just put her in with an existing dog without a barrier initially until they both are used to having each other there.
- Other animals: Unknown. Has not been tested with cats/smaller animals
- Yard: Secure fencing. Although a med-large size yard is preferred, she seems to be low energy so probably won't need a lot of space to run around, particularly if you intend on walking her. Currently, when left alone in kennel she sleeps a lot and she is very quiet.
I would wait a few days before walking, given her current temperament. It may be too overwhelming going out into the 'world' before she trusts the person on the end of the lead. She does walk OK on a lead, can pull a little. She knows how to sit.
HEALTH: other than being underweight, she appears to have no other health issues going on. She has tested heartworm negative, and other vet checks have not identified any other issues. She will need more frequent smaller meals initially to slowly bring her weight up. Once in a normal weight range, it is always recommended to give 2 smaller meals a day than 1 big one. This breed is prone to bloat, so smaller more frequent meals should be the norm.
Post adoption training would be advisable to assist with her lack of confidence would be beneficial after she has a little bit of time to settle in. Initially, it's all about ROUTINE. The same routine initially will help her gain confidence as she will know exactly what's happening next.
She would be a great companion to someone who is home alot, or a part time worker.

Zeus - Bayswater, VIC

Zeus is 22mths old. DOB 26/08/2021. He is a Dogue de Bordeaux x Neapolitan Mastiff.
Temperament: He is very good with people. A lovebug, and behaves like a really big puppy. He's too boisterous for little kids, as he 'mouths' while playing which isn't ideal with little kids. Ongoing training will be needed to alleviate this habit.
Training: Very good with food. Will sit and wait until you say eat. He was crate trained previously. He will sit and shake. Should do well with ongoing training. He can be a bit destructive if left home alone - but that may be due to his current situation. He has had positive interactions with other dogs, but he seems to be reactive on lead to other dogs. Again, we believe he will do well with ongoing training and time.
Health: Desexed. Vaccinated. Wormed. Weighs approx 50kgs. No known health issues.
Home requirements: No young kids. Careful introduction to existing dogs, and supervised interaction for a while (we usually recommend several weeks while he settles in).
Price: $380

"Arnold" - Maryborough (Fraser Coast) QLD

Arnold is a 2yr old DDB x DDB/Mastiff. He needs a new home through no fault of his own.
Temperament: Arnold has a wonderful temperament! Arnold has been raised with kids from toddlers to teens, cats and chickens that free range with him. His first year of life he had a female daschund as a companion until she passed away. He has been well trained around food and has no food aggression, the chickens would even eat out of his bowl. Able to remove any food/bones from him without any issues at all. He does not dig, pull washing or chew incessantly. He does like plastic pots or small plastic items like kids toys but we always put them up. We have found a great brand of rubber toy he can’t chew through and he loves these a lot. He doesn’t have any fears. He doesn’t like getting into cars only because he hasn’t done much of it but once I get him in he is calm and enjoys the ride with his head out the window.
Training: Arnold was crate trained as a puppy although living on property he hasn’t used on in a while. He did a puppy training and socialization class. He knows sit and down, to wait for a command before eating, come and leave it. He isn’t lead trained.
Health: Arnold is desexed and up to date with all vaccinations. He weighs approx 65kgs.
Price: $330

"Leni" - Leopold, VIC

Leni just turned 2yrs old (DOB: 18/08/2020), and so she's going through the stage in life where she needs training, time and patience. This is usually a 'rebellious' stage.
Temperament: Leni has a very friendly (a little too friendly sometimes) and loving nature with an extreme amount of energy. She would be best suited to a family with older children and as an only dog. If bored, she can dig and destroy things, so a person who is home alot is preferred. She has started getting abit aggressive during feeding time with our older female dogue.
Climbs onto the bench to get food. Leni is scared of storms and will hide and cry. Leni has the potential to be an amazing dog with the correct training and environment. She is extremely sweet and loves lots of attention. She is too boisterous for young children and will knock them over.
Training: She is very strong and can be hard to walk at times but once she’s tired she’s great. She sits when told. Leni is house trained.
Health: Desexed, vaccinated, wormed. No known health issues. Leni is only a little girl weighing in at approx 40kgs.
Microchip Number: 956000010906662
Price: $400
Leni is a private rehome, meaning all applications will be sent to her owner for assessment and they will contact applicants directly. To apply for Leni, please fill out our Application Form CLICK HERE.

"Narla" - Erina, NSW

"Narla" is 4yrs old (DOB 24/05/2018), and has some health concerns.
Narla has a gorgeous nature and is super friendly with everyone that she meets. She has fabulous manners when she meets other canine friends. She is currently being held at an Animal Shelter while we attempt to find her foster care placement. She has been at the shelter since 22/12/2022, so her situation is coming urgent.
She may have Lumbarsacral disease and some arthritis and in the future may need her cruciate done on one of her legs. She may need pain relief/steroids in the future. NOTE: the video below is current as at 13/04/2023 and she isn't on pain killers! At this current moment in time she appears happy and healthy. DDBR are happy to work with anyone considering adopting her to assist with future vet bills relating to the conditions we've disclosed.
She is desexed and is dog friendly. Hasn't been tested with cats.
Narla is a small girl weighing approx 35kgs. Narla will need a quiet home with calm existing dogs (if any), and won't be able to 'play' with kids.

"Boss" - Melbourne, VIC

Boss is a 2 year old boy, DOB 23/02/2020 in need of a new home.
Temperament: good with kids, not destructive, plays with toys, beautiful nature. However, he can be boisterous and dominant and not happy when he is touched while he eats - so a home with older kids who understand giving him space around food is essential. He is unsuitable for a home that has cats, rabbits, pocket pets etc.
Obedience training: Boss is well behaved and trained, sits, high fives, waits for food when directed. He is good on lead/harness. He is house/toilet trained.
Health: Boss is desexed, vaccinated, wormed etc. Boss weighs approx 68kgs. He has no known health issues.
Reason for rehoming: Unfortunately, Boss needs to be the true Boss of his home, we have another DDB that we rescued previously, and he is also a similar aged male and they both are wanting to be the top dog, also I think being both rescues they are fighting for our attention. Boss would be ideal for a home where he can be the centre of the family and given lots of love. We absolutely love him and wish we didn’t have to say goodbye.
Price: $200

"Maui" - Ormeau, QLD - Dogue de Bordeaux cross

*** Assisted rehoming - the details below have been provided by his owner.
Maui is a 2yr old Dogue de Bordeaux cross in need of a new home. DOB 20/10/2019.
Tempermant: Maui lives with kids, a cat, and another dog. Maui tends to resource guard his food and toys around the existing dog, which has resulted in fights. His owner thinks he should be an only dog. He will need further training in that regard. This is also the reason for his rehoming. We also think maybe a home with no young children is recommended to ensure that they understand not to take food or toys from Maui.
He doesn't chew or destroy anything and is generally a happy dog. He can be protective of his home. When inside, he's a really calm and gentle dog and just loves being close to his people.
Maui has some fears that he needs some patience with and someone who can give him some confidence. He is wary of new people or dogs approaching his home. He's very sensitive to the noise smoke alarms make. He is also afraid of the vet, he's had some not so nice experiences at the vet so his confidence is quite low.
Training: Wears a halti when walking. Since he was attacked on a walk, he can be reactive to other dogs when out.
Will sit, wait for food until allowed to eat, lay down and follow directions when inside.
Health: Desexed. Not sure of date of last vaccination or worming status. Maui weighs approx 60kgs. He currently has no health issues, however, he did have eye surgery (curling over eyelashes) twice on one eye which was quite traumatic for him.
Microchip # 956000011153465
Price: Donation to rescue.

"Lulu" - Gilead (Appin), NSW

This is Lulu, a 2-year-old [birthday 09 May 2020] desexed Female and guaranteed lounge lizard. Don’t be deceived by the breed, this lady is a petite version and unlikely to grow much larger – other than put on a little more weight.
Home requirements: Perfect for Retiree Living, Lulu would be a great companion for a couple/single retiree or family with older children [8-10yrs +] providing great friendship and devotion. Lulu would be happiest with someone living or working from home rather than spending long hours alone, while she hasn’t shown evidence of separation anxiety yet, she will sit by your exit door waiting till your return. Lulu could easily live in an Apartment or Villa if she is walked 2 – 3 times daily with a great excursion on weekends.
Although she appears to be dog friendly, she is alone in her foster home, so we don't know if she may be possessive of 'her' people. therefore we are recommending a home with no other dogs. Dogue or large breed experience is preferred but not a 'must', but we would love to see someone who is willing to have some patience with her until she settles in with someone. With her change of owner history, she may have been through several homes, so it may take her a little while to settle in and feel secure that she's not being moved on again. You need to be sure you are willing to commit for at least a month (the trial period) to really give her a chance to feel at home. She is still young, and with so much upheaval in her short life, she really needs someone to give her a proper chance to feel secure.
Temperament: Lulu is quite timid and scared of the dark, here we have nightlights throughout to remove those dark corners. She dislikes unexpected loud noises [trucks, whipper-snippers etc] or sudden appearances and will hide behind your back if on a walk - small yappy dogs scare her silly into a quick retreat or, if at home and alarmed will send out a scared challenge but hasn’t followed through. She feared the vacuum and doorbell but quickly gained confidence in a calm atmosphere after being shown the strange noise can’t hurt.
She will bond strongly and become protective of her humans and home, rarely barks and generally only once if alarmed, preferring to give a warning growl. While she isn’t reactive to dogs while on walks, due to her protective nature she may not get along with another dog/cat in the home [has not been tested].
Lulu is the original mushy lounge lizard, liking a good walk and a play each morning then happy to retire to the lounge or crate for a quick snooze. She loves watching you cook in the kitchen and loves checking out the contents of each cupboard and drawer but she’s a lady and won’t beg for food or get in your way. A lunchtime walk or good play of tug-a-war after helping you in the garden is loved followed by a doze in the sun before another play or walk in the afternoon and she’s done. Her foster home is a Villa with a balcony where she loves to lie quietly watching the world pass by.
Training: Toilet trained but not on grass, preferring to attend to her toiletries in the one spot at home presently on a reusable puppy pad in the corner of a room. With training, she would use a doggy door to a courtyard or deck with a doggy toilet pad.
Lulu walks very well on the lead with no pulling or jerking unless scared by an unexpected noise or if a smaller yappy dog gets in her face. She does know simple commands eg Sit; Back [when at the front door]; Off [when on the bed] etc and we’re certain knows more but we haven’t discovered the right words for them yet. Each day uncovers another way to communicate. She won’t beg for food and is more of a grazer with her kibble. Unless you walk in the door with a BBQ chicken and then she’s the original Velcro dog.
She is crate trained and goes in there, but haven't tried with the door shut yet. She was anxious in the car, but this was during her trip from the pound into foster care, so she may improve once in a trusting environment.
Health: de-sexed and no known health issues. Has been fully vaccinated and wormed. Will graze rather than bolt her food down. Loves a small meaty [low fat] lamb bone for afternoon tea, BBQ chicken or small bits of tasty cheese as treats along with the normally dried treats. Not a fan of beef bones.
Lulu will thrive in a calm, safe and respectful home with carers who will enjoy expanding her training and will play and be around to help her grow in confidence. If there is a backyard, it will need to be strongly secure as she’ll quickly locate an escape hatch if bored. Lulu struggles to initiate play on her own, not being accustomed to toys etc. Her favourite daytime pastime is sitting on my balcony watching the cows in the distance, cars whizzing by on Appin Road, people/dogs walking on the street and generally watching the world pass by.

"Puka" - Perth, WA - **** ON TRIAL ***

'Puka' is a 1.5yr old boy in need of a new home. His date of birth is 19/10/2019.
Temperament: Puka is an absolute delight! He ADORES people. He can be a little unsure of himself when in a new situation or seeing a new person but within seconds he’s wiggling up to them and leaning in for cuddles.
His original owner said he doesn't like other dogs, however he hasn't shown any aggression at all towards dogs in the kennels. He could be homed with another calm dog of similar size. A home where someone is home a lot is preferred, and able to adequately contain him if he's home alone. Reacts badly to cats. Ideally he should be the only pet where he can receive all the human love as he just LOVES people!! He’s honestly just the sweetest boy, hopefully you can see that in these pics.
Obedience training: Good with walking on a lead (harnessed), he can sit on command.
Health: he has no known health issues. He's vaccinated and desexed. He's a smaller boy at about 50kgs, perfect snuggle size!!
He was surrendered as his owner was FIFO and with the COVID restrictions, he was unable to go home for long periods of time, so Puka wasn't getting the attention he needed, and no stability.
Price: $440
If you think you are the right home for Puka, please fill out the Application form (CLICK HERE) and we will be in touch.

"Jordie" - Arcadia (North West Sydney) NSW

Jordie is a 4yr old Dogue de Bordeaux cross. He only just turned 4, DOB 01/08/2017. He weighs approx 35kgs.
Temperament: Jordie has a lovely temperament. He is very loving & affectionate. He can be a little nervous around people when first meeting them, but once settled is very sweet. I am unsure how he would be with young kids, but I would advise no young children. The original owners noted he was nervous around young children.
He is dog aggressive & reactive. We have been working on this with him. He will now be calm in the presence of another dog (both dogs on lead) about 1.5m away. This is something that will constantly need to be worked on, however Jordie won't ever be a dog that goes to dog parks etc. Jordie will need to be the only pet in the home.
He isn't destructive & is very relaxed in his kennel. He is not food aggressive & he loves enrichment feeding!
Obedience training: Jordie is very smart & loves learning. Will do anything for treats! He knows the basics, sit/drop/stay. He also has a fantastic recall & walks well on lead. We have also trained him on 'touch', where he will touch our hand with his mouth and he also knows 'place' as a command for him to go to his bed while we enter his kennel etc. He hasn't been crate trained, but I think he would do well in a crate overnight.
Health: Jodie is desexed, vaccinated, wormed and has no known health issues.
Adoption fee: $350

"Holly" and "Hunter" - Perth WA (with another rescue group)

Holly and Hunter are a gorgeous bonded pair of 6 and 7 year old Dogue de Bordeaux’s, who are in need of urgent foster care.
They are a gentle friendly duo and very well trained. A complete package, they social with other dogs, cats and children. They do enjoy a play, so a property with a yard is a must.
We would prefer a foster carer without other dogs and children over 2, until we can complete their vet work and match them with their forever home.
If you can help Hunter and Holly with a place to stay in the Perth metro area, please email caninewelfareaustralia@gmail.com for a foster form.
They are very well loved and this is a heartbreaking decision for their owner, so please help share for Holly and Hunter.

Jessie is a sweet soul. We have been working on building up her confidence with humans and other canine friends. She has always shown to be friendly but she has a sensitive side and will retreat if she is not comfortable. Her new family will need to be mindful of this and not push her to be in situations that will cause her unnecessary concern.
Jessie is great with non-invasive canine friends. She has lovely manners towards them and quickly initiates play. She has shown interest in our facility cats so a home without them would be ideal.
Jessie is a clever young lady. She can sit, shake, drop and roll over when asked. Walks are a highlight for Jessie. She gets so much enjoyment out of investigating, sniffing, splashing in puddles and being allowed lots of time to explore her surroundings.
Due to her size, a family with older children would be a great fit for Jessie. Jessie has not had the best start to life so it is imperative that her new family are committed to providing her with a forever loving home where she will feel secure, loved and at ease. Preference will be given to potential adopters who have experience with her breed or larger breeds in general.
If you have secure fencing, in a position to provide this precious girl with everything she needs, please lodge your interest online www.socaresanimalcarefacility.com.au/adoptions
Jessie’s adoption fee covers her microchipping, desexing, lifetime registration, up to date vaccination, worming & flea treatments.

"Dozer" - Rockhampton, QLD

*** FOSTER OR PERMANENT HOME NEEDED
This snaggle-tooth 5.5 yr old boy was rescued from Rockhampton Pound, and was very underweight, and has long-term damage to both cruciate ligaments. He is slowly gaining weight and confidence, and responding well on anti-inflammatory medication.
The perfect home will be without cats, and someone home most of the time, as he seems to suffer separation anxiety. He is house-trained, and comfortable spending time in a 4ft collapsible wire crate. The family will also have older or no children as he is a bit of a goofball despite the pain his knees must give him! He is fine with other dogs, playing with a 6mth DDB pup, and being submissive to an aged DDB.
Dozer is desexed and up to date with his vaccinations.
Microchip number: 900012001115313
Adoption fee: TBA (as he will need ongoing care, we will negotiate this with potential adoptors)
Meet and greets will be in the Rockhampton, QLD area. If you are interested in fostering, or foster with a view to adopt, please send an application through our foster application form HERE or submit an adoption application form HERE.

"Bruiser" - Sunshine Coast, QLD - rehomed March 2021

Bruiser is almost 4yrs old (DOB 18/01/2017).
** No other dogs, no kids, will need time to get to know you, special case **
Temperament: Bruiser is a loving sweet dog with people he knows. He loves to play and wrestle with his owner and cuddle and suck stuffed toys. Bruiser's current family has young kids and he has never shown any aggression towards them. They pat and cuddle Bruiser, although interactions are always supervised due to his size. Bruiser is a great guard dog which means he doesn't always respond well to strangers on his property unless introduced with his owners. Bruiser loves meeting people when out and about on his lead or sitting in the Ute tray. He is happy for people to come up and pat him - he has never shown any aggression to people when in the Ute. Bruiser will sit and wait to be signalled to eat and has never shown any food aggression. He hasn't been around cats and is happy to say hello to smaller dogs when out on walks.
** It is recommended that Bruiser go to someone with large breed experience and no kids.
Obedience training: Bruiser can sit, lay down, roll over. He walks on a lead although can pull. Bruiser doesn’t have good recall so shouldn’t be off lead in public.
Health: Desexed. Vaccinated. Wormed. Approx 48kgs. Has an unknown allergy which causes a rash. This is maintained by steroids.
