*** ON HOLD - MAY HAVE A NEW HOME ***
"Narla" - Sydney, NSW
Narla is an absolute delight, and you fall in love with her face the moment you meet her. We can't believe she's had no interest!
Narla is 5yrs old (DOB 24/05/2018).
Narla is available for foster, or foster with a view to adopt, or straight adoption.
There are some health issues but whoever adopts her will have rescue back up and we will cover vet costs associated with the condition for life :-)
Temperament: Due to Narla's health, she needs a calm home environment. We would prefer her to be an only dog, although she is dog friendly, she may injure herself with rough play. Likewise she will need a home with older kids who know to give her space and not expect to 'play' with her. She's much happier just having couch cuddles.
She is a sensitive girl where yelling and screaming frightens her and she will run away and hide, so her home needs to be a happy calm stable environment.
Kids will need to be respectful of her space and reinforce proper dog manners (such as sit before petting. Needs calm behaviour around her as she feeds off of excited energy and can hurt her back legs. Calm energy keeps her settled so prevent her injuring herself and keeping good manners).
She won't need a lot of exercise, she's happy to wander around at her own pace and does well when left home alone. She is happy to have a daily walk at her pace.
Other animals: She has shown a high prey drive for chickens and cats. She is doing well socialising with other dogs. She does get irritated with 'rude young dog behaviour' and will tell them off. She prefers a more aloof personality dogs that are happy to just chill with her. She can charge up to other dogs if not on lead, so her new family would need to be mindful of this and not use 'off-lead' areas with her. She is very possessive over food and bones with other dogs (not with people). So if she is to live with another dog, they will need to be separated during feeding time.
Training: Narla is crate trained and is happy to sleep in there of a night, and chooses to go in during the day to sleep. She's great in the car, and she's getting better with her leash manners. She's very easy to live with.
Health: Narla has been on a raw diet for the last few months and as a result her coat, ears and skin have no more issues. If she is put back on kibble, then these issues may arise as she seems to have a sensitivity to something but we're not sure what. That said, she presented with these issues after several months in a pound, so it could've been as a result of stress or low quality food.
She has Lumbosacral disease and some arthritis. She was on a monthly injection and at the moment she's doing great! Rescue can help with costs for both of these conditions, and any other related issues for life to ensure she stays comfortable.
At this current moment in time she appears happy and healthy. She is showing no signs of any discomfort at all. Very happy and loves life. She is desexed and up to date with all her vet work. Narla is a small girl weighing approx 35kgs.
