NOTE: We are a BREED SPECIFIC rescue. This means we only deal with Dogue de Bordeaux (French Mastiff) or their crosses. If you don't have a Dogue de Bordeaux then please contact an all breeds rescue or a breed specific rescue for your particular breed.
Need to rehome your dogue?
We have recently been inundated with people who wish to rehome their Dogue de Bordeaux.
NOTE: Due to the amount of current dogs in care, we can't afford to take any more dogs on ourselves at this time but can assist with rehoming if your dog is desexed.
This breed is not for everyone, and/or circumstances change so we are sympathetic to your situation, but we do ask 'why'? Why are you unable to keep your dog? If it's temperament, have you tried a behaviour trainer? If you're moving, could you locate a property that will allow the dog to stay?
This breed is a very loyal and loving breed that bonds deeply with their people, so rehoming often traumatizes them. They rely on you. Rehoming should be a last resort.
That said - if you really can't keep your dogue....
Our first recommendation is to contact your breeder. Most breeders will take back their dogues, and they may have people interested in an older dogue. If you need help tracking down your breeder, we may be able to help with this. Don't feel embarrassed or ashamed - breeders would prefer to know than their dogs end up in a pound or in rescue.
We have an extensive waiting list for dogs, however, our policy is that the dog MUST be desexed before rehoming. If your dog is already desexed, and you would like our help to rehome your dog, then we are happy to assist (complete the form at the bottom of this page).
If your dog is not desexed, we honestly cannot take on every dog we are contacted about. Please consider desexing PRIOR to contacting us. That way - we should be able to find your dogue a home very quickly and they can be adopted directly from you, instead of the further confusion of a foster home. However, there are circumstances where we may have a foster carer in your area, so we may have the capacity to take your dog in with rescue.
If the dog has health issues, we don't care, many people on our waiting list don't care, but desexing is a non-negotiable component of our advertising, and our ability to assist. There are so many dogues in need, we cannot condone rehoming entire dogs that may add to the already mammoth task we face with animals in need of rehoming.
Being a rescue, our first priority is to save those that are in pounds, and
are at risk of euthanasia. Our resources and foster homes are limited, so we
can only consider taking in surrenders based on our resources at the time.
Finally - we cannot rehome a dog that is NOT owned by you. Please ensure the dog is in your name, microchipped in accordance with the laws in your state, and registered with the relevant agency in your state. Have your microchip information and proof of ownership handy as we need both prior to being able to assist.
